Li River - Yangshuo, Guilin

Nestled in the southeastern region of China, the stunning Li River awaits your discovery. As a first-time visitor, you'll be captivated by the striking limestone peaks that rise dramatically from the lush valleys below. DonΒ΄t forget to bring a 20RMB note with you, as this breathtaking landscape is so iconic that it graces the Chinese this banknote. You can catch a glimpse of the majestic mountain on this note from the riverside in Xingping (the Ancient Town), where the rafts set off for unforgettable adventures. After you see these mountains from dry land, make sure to jump on the motorized rafts to go for a river tour down the Li River. This boat tour brings unforgettable views that canΒ΄t be seen from dry land.

Near the end of the tour, you can leave the raft behind and walk around the area. Nearby, the riverside has the traditional rafts parked, with the traditional fishermen and their trained cormorants. For only 10RMB, you can take a pictures with the cormorants. If you pay a bit extra you can have a professional photographer take your picture with the cormorants. Well worth it for the photo-op, and a great new way for the traditional fishermen to earn more money. They do say the best time to photograph the cormorants is early morning, when the sun is rising over the mountains. Even if you aren't a morning person, anytime is a great time in my mind!
